2007 US Nats in Lakeview

Today is day 6 of the US Paragliding Nationals in Lakeview, OR. We've had 3 tasks so far, one being the longest paragliding task in US history, 145km (90 miles). Today is blown out, as was yesterday, but we are hopeful for tomorrow, as the forecast looks good. Below is Cottonwood Lake, a beautiful place to swim, hike and picnic.

2007 Rat Race

Rat Race 2007 was awesome! We flew 6 tasks and except for one I made goal everyday, finishing 14th overall. Pilots from around the country and a few from abroad gathered in Ruch this week for some amazing flying.

Heading North to Woodrat Mountain, Oregon

Monday I headed North to Oregon with Caryn. We left San Francisco around 10 pm, delayed as my new harness, the iMPRESS 2, arrived late in the afternoon and it took a few hours to get it dialed. We pulled off the highway at 2am, finding a sweet spot to fall asleep under the shimering stars of the Milky Way.

By 8am the next morning we were on the road heading N toward Ruch, Oregon, home of Woodrat Mountain. Mt. Shasta dominates the skyline here and we arrived just in time to catch a ride up to launch with Summer and another local pilot. Caryn and I flew tandem together, having an epic flight over 2 hrs long. After a great high tandem flight over 7000ft I raced back to launch to have my first flight on the new harness. Sweetness.

Today, 14 June, was another epic day and I flew with lots of homies. I flew almost 3 hrs and had a great valley tour.
